Below-Grade Waterproofing

Below grade waterproofing is an application that must be done quickly and correctly, or it will have lasting implications on the structure. Several methods exist to waterproof a building from roll on products to applied sheeting, but most of these applications take time to apply and may require a long set time or cure time. In order to decrease the time spent on below grade waterproofing, polyurea and polyurea hybrid chemistry is being used to provide a quick cure time and return to service. Without a quick return to service, job sites can be shut down days for the correct waterproofing to cure and be backfilled.

To decrease the time spent on below grade waterproofing a polyurea or polyurea hybrid can be spray applied and backfilled the same day. Polyurea is a water insensitive, fast curing chemistry that uses a two-component system sprayed through a high-pressure plural component to give gel times as quick as 2 seconds to create a tough and waterproof membrane. Polyurea hybrids combine the chemistry of a polyurea and polyurethane to provide a fast setting tough material that is more cost sensitive than a normal polyurea.

Putting a polyurea or polyurea hybrid coating over a concrete surface provides an impermeable surface to water quickly and efficiently. Using a spray process allows for the elimination of any seams that could be generated by applying a membrane sheet and is able to do any architecture. Below grade waterproofing will continue to be one of the most important aspects of the building and we strive at providing a cost effective and time efficient method for you to avoid long-term and short-term problems.
